Brilha & Hayati

For the Hayati and Brilha collaboration, designer and stylist Georgie Salama called on me to develop two projects exploring her Egyptian heritage, mourning and the suspension of time that comes with loss. Conceived as two distinct visual narratives, the projects unfold across two shoots, each addressing a different temporality: that of stillness and that of persistent memory.

Echoing this world, I imagined and built a set where landmarks blur, between desert, ancient Egyptian funerary architecture and abstract forms. The clay blocks and volumes act as plinths, supports or remains.

Sand holds a central place: it evokes both the landscape of her origins, erosion and the flow of time. The choice of clay, a living and fragile material, came naturally, echoing the vulnerability of life.
